Apple claimed that Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger was the most successful Apple OS release in the company's history. Six weeks after its official release, Apple had delivered 2 million copies of Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, representing 16% of all Mac OS X users. The server edition, Mac OS X Server 10.4, was also available for some Macintosh product lines.

Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger offered a number of features, such as fast file searching and improved graphics processing, that Microsoft had spent several years struggling to add to Windows with acceptable performance. Some of the new features included a fast searching system called Spotlight, a new version of the Safari web browser, Dashboard, a new 'Unified' theme, and improved support for 64-bit addressing on Power Mac G5s. Tiger was released to the public on Apfor US$129.95 as the successor to Mac OS X 10.3 Panther. Is the Thief mod you're talking about developed specifically for the Mac or are mods actually transferable from PC to Mac - in the same way that one can use Windows Word docs on a Mac, and then swap your edited docs back to the PC? Two quick questions for J Arcane: which version of UT would I need to run the Thief mod? Second, this sounds like something that would have been developed for the PC platforms. NWN and NOLF 2 are still listed at $44 in a couple of places. I am a little shocked at how expensive even rather old PC games are the Mac. Less thrilled to discover that landing on a space station without the automated docking sequence was still a huge pain in the arse. I was thrilled ( thrilled, I say) to bits to see a Mac port of Elite, called Oolite. I'll take a look at SC2 at some point, but my gaming history is British rather than US. never mind - it's all too painful to go into at this time in the morning).ĭead chuffed to see that there's something of an emulation scene. They actually feel and play like real players, even the really damn good ones. The bots in regular UT though, are some of the best there is. Modwise, Troopers and Red Orchestra are both friggin' sweet, though don't waste your time in single player with those, because the mod devs on both never seem to have bothered much with actually coding the AI right, so the bots are completely idiotic. One you'll definitely want to get your hands on as a Thief fan is Thievery UT, which is inspired/based on the original Thief games, and also has multiplayer.Ģ004 is a fine upgrade to the original, and adds some cool game modes and the option of vehicles. The original is awesome, and has a fair number of wesome mods. I recommend skipping 2003 though, it's a rather weak entry in the series. Unreal Tournament, in all it's versions, is available on all platforms, and even the mods are cross compatible.
Possibly KOTOR II hasn't gotten a port yet, but I'm pretty sure the first one did. In fact, pretty much every Bioware/Black Isle game has been IIRC, save for Planescape. Click to expand.Fallout 1 & 2 both got ported to the Mac.
